Carter's Thanksgiving meal!

Meeting Molly!

Talking with Uncle B!

First Bath! We didn't enjoy it!

Sorry it has been a couple weeks! Carter is doing well and growing by the day. His last few weeks have been filled with family fun at Thanksgiving, doctor's appointments, and of course just being lazy with me at home. Thanksgiving was a blast. Alan worked Thanksgiving day so we spent the night before in Brooksville with his family. Thanksgiving day was lots of fun, and Carter got to meet several new family members. Josephine, Susan, and Molly spent the day in Columbus with us, and then that night we went to Starkville and met The Rebels (Henry and Kathy) and Uncle Pete. Then on Friday we had dinner at Mom's and Carter got to met Aunt Elizabeth. After such a busy couple of days, I must confess we have stayed home in our PJs most days. Mom and I did take Carter on his first shopping trip last week to Tuscaloosa. He did very well, and mom is convinced he is going to be a shopper. I on the other hand give him a year, and I bet we will be leaving him in Columbus. This week Carter went to see Uncle Henry for his one month check up. The little chunky monkey has gained 2 pounds since birth and now weighs 9lbs 9 oz. It is still so hard to believe that he is a month old. He is changing daily, and the past few weeks he has started noticing people and objects. It is not uncommon for him to start grinning when he hears a voice he recognizes or wakes up to someone holding him. His little personality is forming daily. Here are a few pictures from the past few weeks hope you enjoy!

Top 5 Ways to know your a New Mom!

So today is my first day all alone with Carter. Alan is at the fire station and Marmie had to go back to work. So far we are adjusting well and are enjoying being lazy together. While I have only been a mom now for about two weeks, I have learned quickly that there are a few ways that set moms apart from other people. The following are just a few ways that my world has changed and that I know I am no longer a "normal" person but a mom!
Top 5 Ways to know your a New Mom:
5. You are super excited your tennis shoes fit again even if your pants don't!
4. You are not confused by where the wet spots on your shirt came from!
3. You get excited when you get a full night's sleep(which means you only got up twice for feedings)
2. You would rather spend the day smelling like spit up than bother changing.
1. and number 1....You realize halfway through straightening your hair that the yellow smudge on your hand is your son's poop not mustard from your sandwich at lunch and yet it doesn't gross you out.

Carter has Arrived!

Well this post is only a week and a day late, but in my defense I warned you that I would be bad at the updating thing. Anyway, Carter Wesley Lewis has officially arrived. He was born on November 2,2011 at 9:46 p.m. He weighed 7lbs 6oz and is 22 inches long. After 15 hours of labor, I finally had a c section. Needless to say he is a little strong willed and did not want to enter the world until he was ready. All worked out well though, and because of his late arrival Uncle Mike, Aunt Riah, Maddie, Rivers, and Gloria all got to Columbus in time for his birth. We have been home for about a week now, and with the help of family and friends we are beginning to adjust to being a family of three. We especially appreciate Marmie's help. She has gone with us to the doctor, fixed supper, and stayed with us while Alan was working. She was even kind enough to take the night shift our second night home so that I could get some rest. Above are a few pictures of Carter's birth and our hospital stay. Hope you enjoy!

Carter Update!

Sorry for the long delay. However, I must say that I warned you I would not be good at keeping up with this blog daily, weekly, or even monthly. This month has been full of baby fun. Last week we found out that Carter now weighs 5 lbs and 7 oz. He has been gaining about 1 lb every 2 weeks. The doctors say he looks wonderful, and they are all very please with the blood sugars and his growth. At first he was a little small and they thought he might be underdeveloped, but he is now in the 54 percentile. We are so thankful for all the prayers and we know that the successfulness of this pregnancy is totally a GOD thing. Dr. Betcher gave us a tentative date for Carter's arrival this past week. Unless he comes before 38 weeks, they will induce me either November 1 or November 2. Thanks to so many of our wonderful family and friends, we are totally ready for his arrival. That is we have the stuff we need. I don't know if we will ever truly be mentally ready :) This past weekend we had a wonderful shower at Kathy and Henry's house. We were shocked and so thankful for all the great stuff. Then today I had my shower at the school with my wonderful co-workers. Thanks to everyone who has showered us with all the necessary things we will need for Carter. Many of these things I didn't realize I even needed. I guess I have a lot to learn.

It's Official Baby Lewie has a Name!

Well after much deliberation we have finally decided on a name for baby Lewie. His name will be.....drum roll..........Carter Wesley Lewis. Carter is simply a name we both liked, and it is what we will call him. I think that it is a cute little boy's name, while Alan thinks it's a solid name for a State Football or Braves Baseball player. Haha! Wesley is very special to both of us for two different reasons. For Alan, Wesley was his grandfather's name. While I did not know his grandfather very well, I can see the qualities that he has passed on to Mr. Greg such as hard working and his willingness to always help those around him. I hope and pray that Carter is able to learn these same qualities that the Lewis men seem to pass from generation to generation. For me, Wesley was the name of my older cousin who was such a role model for me. He was such a Godly and brave man throughout his life, which are both qualities I know he learned from his amazing parents. I pray that Carter will be as Godly and brave throughout the challenges he faces in life, and I pray that Alan and I can support and teach him just as my aunt and uncle did for Wesley. Both of these men are very special to us, and we are honored that our child can carry own their name.

Hello All!

Well, since we are having our first child I fell that as a good mother I should have a blog to show off our bundle of joy! However, I warn you all I am horrible at keeping up with this sort of thing so do not be suprised if I go weeks or even months without posting. I promise I will try my hardest to do my best! We are expecting our little one in November, and the doctors say that he (yes its a boy) is doing great. This is nothing less than a blessing with my diabetes, and we are so thankful for all the prayers over the last 5 months. Our little man is very active, and I can only pray that he is not a busy outside the womb as he is inside! Well stay posted for more updates....if I remember to post!
